The station is based on a combination of those at Loch Tay and Killin, utilising the original station boards from the Breadalbane layout. Only the original station area has been retained and this has been refurbished in such a way so as not to detract from the original model.
To increase the operation of the layout an industrial scene has been added next to the approach to the station. It depicts a distillery complex to be worked in conjunction with the existing goods yard and allow a wider and more varied selection of rolling stock to be used.
Distillery Complex Completed
Phase 2 has now been completed and sees the completion of the distillery complex. Phase 2 had its first outing at the 2014 Guildex show in Telford.
Glen Dochart can be exhibited in either its Phase 1 configuration or its Phase 2 configuration.
Phase 1 saw the construction of the new traverser fiddle yard and the first of three new baseboards. The first section of the distillery complex comprising a warehouse and wagon turntable has been completed along with upgrading the scenery on the old station boards.
Phase 2 of the development that extends the distillery complex along a 90 degree curve is under way. The track work is nearing completion and a start has been made on the scenery. The Phase 2 extension is expected to be complete and available for exhibitions by August 2014.
